On monday, the 29th of August 2022, Mr. Laurent AKPO decided to come down in the sectional headquarters sheltering the laboratories and Technical Services of the national Agency of Standards Metrology and Quality Control (ANM) at Akpakpa.
The main aim of this visit by the Chairman of the Board of Directors (PCA) , Chief of Staff of the Ministry in charge of Trade and Industry , was to explore what occurs as activities devoted to that Agency which of the mission was multidimensional for the competitiveness of the national economy.
Created from the dissolution of the former Beninese Agency of Metrology and Quality Control (ABMCQ) and the former Beninese Agency of Standards (ABeNor) , the national Agency of Standards Metrology and Quality Control (ANM) is the only structure which of the mission is the execution, the following-up and assessment of the national policy of Standards, Metrology, Certification, Items’ Inspection and Quality Promotion.
Laurent AKPO in companionship with Gabin Joseph DEGBEY , General Manager of the national Agency of Standards Metrology and Quality Control (ANM) and his Technical Directors, started his visit by the reception office of the electrical meters.
The next offices visited were:
-the laboratory of electrical energy where are inspected and calibrated the electrical meters;
-the laboratory of temperature certified ISO 17025 where are inspected and calibrated measurement tools such as thermometers, air-conditionned rooms;
– the laboratory of bulks’ calibration certified ISO 17025 where are calibrated bulks and laboratory’s scales.
The pressure laboratory recently engaged in the accreditation process was not without being visited by the delegation.
In fact, it is this latest laboratory which inspected and calibrated the manometers, the blood pressure’s meters used in hospitals and the pressure’s sensors.
The lorries gauging station in the hydrocarbon’s field was the last Technical Service visited.
Along the whole visit, through answers and questions with the workers present on this occasion, Laurent AKPO devoted his passage to explore the way the laboratories and the different Technical services functionned and their impact on the national economy.
At the end of the visit, the university lecturer of economy attested that the national Agency of Standards Metrology and Quality Control (ANM) is an important and multidimensional structure due to its usefulness not only for the companies but also the whole country. Reason why he administrated wise advices to the working staff on the necessity to work hard for the welfare of the consumers.
The working staff received warmly the advices and used this occasion to ask the Chairman of the Board of Directors (PCA) some questions relative to their life and working conditions.
On this question adressed as a grievance, the Chairman of the Board of Directors (PCA) didn’t hesitate to appease the working staff and added that something will be done for more motivation to a well done job.
At the end of the visit, the working staff gave the Chairman of the Board of Directors (PCA) a grievance list.
